Fashion Nova Continues Philanthropy Efforts in 2021

Los Angeles-based fast-fashion powerhouse Fashion Nova has expanded its continued philanthropic efforts into 2021 with a partnership with Grammy-winner Megan Thee Stallion.

To commemorate one year since the tragic death of Breonna Taylor, Megan Thee Stallion and Fashion Nova have teamed up to donate $100,000 to the Breonna Taylor Foundation.

The Breonna Taylor foundation has a core mission to support economic, social, and racial justice through police reform and government accountability. The foundation also seeks to help young people to realize their full potential, achieve better health, feel empowered to participate in political processes, and participate in high-school-girl-oriented mentorship programs, after-school initiatives, and educational support.

To donate, interested parties can visit http://breonnataylorfoundation.org, as well as @breonnataylorfoundation on Instagram, for information about upcoming events and initiatives surrounding the cause.

Megan Thee Stallion wrote a heartfelt Instagram post announcing this particular donation with Fashion Nova, stating, “A year ago today Breonna Taylor was tragically taken from her family and friends. Breonna’s name continues to be a catalyst for change and a powerful reminder that justice has still not been served… Fashion Nova and I are proud to give $100,000”

Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, acts as the head of the Breonna Taylor Foundation, and continues to champion racial justice through the foundation in honor of her daughter.

The donation to the Breonna Taylor Foundation is the latest in a series of efforts on the part of Megan Thee Stallion to champion important social causes. March 2021 also brought on the rapper’s “Hotties Helping Houston” initiative, partnering with NACC Disaster Services and US Representative Sheila Jackson Lee to help raise funds to rebuild and repair homes in the wake of the winter storm that ravaged Texas.

Fashion Nova Cares

Fashion Nova and Megan Thee Stallion’s donation to the Breonna Taylor Foundation is far from the partnership’s first philanthropic effort together. As a part of the company’s Fashion Nova Cares brand, Fashion Nova has contributed to a number of causes as a part of this month’s “Women On Top” initiative, pledging $1 million in donations, grants and scholarships to female-focused organizations, students, entrepreneurs, and other inspiring women.

As a part of this initiative, Fashion Nova has been giving $25,000 grants to inspiring female entrepreneurs to support their small businesses. Every day of the month brings a new recipient, which is announced daily on the fashion brand’s social media accounts.

Said Megan Thee Stallion, “I’m excited to collaborate with Fashion Nova Cares on the Women on Top initiative and be part of giving one million dollars to support women-led businesses and organizations…”These donations are life-changing and will help women of all ages get one step closer to making their dreams a reality.”

So far, grants have been given to the following recipients:

  • Glowing Goddess, vegan skincare
  • Girls Inc. of New York City
  • Casa de Esperanza
  • SJCR Productions
  • Just B
  • Black Women for Wellness
  • Bread of Life Inc.
  • Tia Adeola
  • Home rebuilding effort for Houston native, Lolita C.
  • Plugged NYC
  • Medical school payment assistance for Mika Osmanovic
  • Until Freedom
  • The Girls Scouts of Greater Los Angeles
  • Scholarships for women at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern University
  • Alani Taylor
  • Ellaé Lisqué
  • YWCA of Houston
  • And finally, the $100,000 to the Breonna Taylor Foundation

Interested parties may nominate others that they feel are deserving of a Fashion Nova Cares grant, as well as learn more information about the current recipients.

In addition to Megan Thee Stallion, Fashion Nova has also found a second celebrity partner for “Women On Top” in LaLa Anthony, who teamed up with Fashion Nova for this month’s grant to Girls Inc. of New York City.

The “Women on Top” initiative is running in conjunction with Fashion Nova’s ongoing pledge to support various activism and awareness campaigns committed to fighting racial inequality.

“Women On Top” is also not the first time Megan Thee Stallion and Fashion Nova have joined forces. In November 2020, Fashion Nova released its collaborative line with the rapper and the collection racked up $1.2 million in sales in just the first 24 hours. Fashion Nova has a history of successful collaborative brands with celebrities, as the Megan Thee Stallion collection came on the heels of Fashion Nova’s also-successful line with rapper Cardi B in 2019, in addition to collaborations with Teyana Taylor, Blac Chyna, and Christina Milian.

Fashion Nova Cares Born out of the Pandemic

Fashion Nova Cares is a philanthropic initiative focused on supporting social causes. It was unveiled on April 8, 2020 through a collaborative partnership with Cardi B, where it was jointly announced that they would donate $1,000 every hour to those facing financial struggles as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Giveaways began on that day and were continued until $1 million had been donated, a landmark that fell on May 20.

Said Fashion Nova Founder and CEO Richard Saghian in a press release at the time of the initiative, “People are struggling to pay rent, buy food, medicine and other essentials for themselves and their families. We all feel compassion and concern for those affected by the Coronavirus…Fashion Nova Cares with Cardi B will provide people with necessary relief to help them get through this crisis. As a community-driven brand, we are inspired by the kindness and generosity of others and we wanted to do our part to help those in need.”

About Fashion Nova

A longtime advocate for female empowerment and inclusivity, Fashion Nova has established itself as a lifestyle brand on the cutting edge— in large part through their high-profile celebrity partnerships. Fashion Nova has been able to expertly wield social media to raise its brand profile, and was the most Googled fashion company in 2018, heralded for “winning the internet.” In addition to its current “Women On Top” initiative and its COVID-19 relief campaign in 2020, Fashion Nova has donated $1 million to social justice organizations such as Black Lives Matter, Know Your Rights Camp, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
